The introduction of the UBO register has been postponed

The introduction of the UBO register, which was scheduled for January 10, 2020, has been postponed. Reason for this delay is that the Senate still has to debate the bill. This debate will, however, not take place before January 28, 2020.

The introduction of the UBO register has been postponed several times. Initially, the UBO register should have entered into force on June 26, 2017. The government has now decided to implement the UBO register in the spring of 2020.

In December 2019, the House of Representatives already approved the bill. In addition to the draft bill, the Government has approved an amendment that will better guarantee the safety and privacy of UBOs. By means of this amendment, persons - who wish to gain access to the UBO register - must be identified in advance. In addition, the ultimate beneficial owner will be able to submit a request to gain insights into the number of times his data has been provided. For privacy reasons, however, no insight is given into the identity of the person requesting the data.
